USA SEO Pros’ Perspective on the Yahoo/Bing Partnership
July 29, 2009 at 10:41 pm | In search engines, seo | 1 CommentTags: Bing, search, USA SEO Pros, usaseopros, Yahoo
Today is a very interesting day for anyone involved in search engine marketing or optimization, including USA SEO Pros. With Yahoo and Bing working together, it not only makes a bigger competitor for Google, but it also makes a better looking option for SEOs.
Optimizing for Bing now means that you’ll get Yahoo ranks as well (or at least, you will once everything is in place). So optimizing for Bing is much more profitable than it used to be. When the amount to searchers on a search engine increases, so does the traffic for those who are ranking well in engine. Google is of course the most desirable search engine to rank well in, but it’s also the most competitive. If you can rank number one in Bing, but only number 30 in Google, it is far better to have the Bing ranking.
There’s no reason to give up on Google, but it’s now time to focus more energy on Bing. It’s all about getting as much traffic as possible, and if Bing is able to do that better than Google for certain keywords, then the best thing to do is go for Bing.
We’ve already been ranking well in Microsoft search engines for a long time, but even more attention will be paid to the engine now once Yahoo is out of the picture. The change hasn’t happened yet, but once it does, it should make things a lot more interesting for SEOs. Good luck to those who haven’t already been focusing on Microsoft, now would be a good time to start. Good thing we already have experience with that!
Google Sets Date for the Wave
July 24, 2009 at 10:27 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentTags: beta, email, Google, im, release, wave
Google recently set a date for when they plan to begin allowing 100,000 members of the general public to try out their new innovation called Wave. On September 30 of this year Google plans on letting in 100,000 people in addition to the thousands of developers that already have access to Wave.
It isn’t completely clear as to when more people will be let in after the initial 100,000, but one assumption is that they’ll do it the same way the did with Gmail, where those first 100,000 will be given addition invites to pass out to friends and family.
For those who haven’t been riding the Wave thus far, it is a new way of online communication. It seems to combine e-mail and instant messaging while adding some new features as well. Google has made Wave available to a lot of third party developers in the hopes that they will make innovative plug-ins and application for Wave, and it looks like thousands of developers have been doing just that.
CNET made a quick video of their first impressions while playing around with Wave, and it may shed some more light on exactly what Wave can do. If you want more specific information on what exactly Wave can do, check out the official Web site and watch the whole Google presentation, which is over an hour long.
After you figure out exactly what Wave is, the next step is to start thinking about how it will change things. The buzz about Wave is already pretty strong, and it’ll only increase as more people get to try out Google’s new invention. Opinions about Wave range from it being not-so-exciting to being the next big thing on the Internet.
If you want a chance to be one of those first 100,000 people trying out Wave, you can sign up for your chance to get a spot through Wave’s Web site.
Google Tries to Claim It’s Really a Small Company
June 9, 2009 at 10:29 pm | In Growth, search engines | Leave a CommentTags: EU court Microsoft, Google Antitrust, Google monopoly, Microsoft
That Google has been the target for antitrust review is no secret. The online giant has been closely watched for some time by regulators, and a private lawsuit accuses Google of killing off a B2B search engine with predatory pricing.
Now the question is whether or not Google holds a monopoly on search advertising. Google argues it’s the scope of it’s business that’s really the problem.
The Mountain View, California-based company says it should be evaluated in the scope of the larger advertising market – an industry where Google holds a meager 2.66 percent of the total US market.
But does Google really deserve to be counted amongst the newspaper advertisers, the magazine advertisers, the billboards, radio etc etc? Not really.
The fact is that Google DOES have a strangle on the search advertising market – but it’s a grip that it earned through strategy and business acumen.
Microsoft has dealt with situations similar to this antitrust case – in fact an EU court fined Microsoft $1.3 billion last year for not complying with a ruling against the company from 2004.
The real irony here is that Google joined in the chorus against Microsoft for it’s web browser antitrust charges. I guess Chrome didn’t grab market share and so Google decided to lash out.
Now that they’re facing an antitrust lawsuit of their own, maybe they better understand Microsoft’s predicament. Sometimes your success has it’s price.
The SEOs Are Closely Watching Bing

Yesterday it was announced by an independent tracking company that Microsoft’s Bing decision engine jumped over Yahoo for second place in the search engine market share.
It’s possible this is just the carryover from Microsoft’s mega-million dollar spending spree to promote Bing, but as a professional search engine optimization company, we are watching it closely.

USASEOPros Company Blog Ranks in the Top 100 SEO Blogs
June 3, 2009 at 5:22 pm | In Company Improvement, seo | 1 CommentTags: blogs, seo, USA SEO Pros, usaseopros
So we found out that we were listed at #82 in the top 100 SEO blogs, that’s pretty amazing! We were definitely impressed with ourselves. They ranked our blog on over 20 different factors, so there was a lot that went into this ranking system. They looked at how many links were used, the amount of Google indexed pages, monthly visitors and overall popularity as just a few of the factors. Our overall site score was a 73.84 out of 100 so that’s pretty good. It’s kind of like SAT scores, we beat a lot of other blogs, so we must be doing something right. Hopefully we’ll continue to see our ranking move upward.
Our blog is a very informative place and we try to bring in tips from many other sources, I’m sure you’d learn a little something new if you were so inclined to visit. We enjoy sharing our SEO knowledge for the better of the SEO community. You may not even be involved with SEO, but you could learn about the do’s and don’ts of Twitter. You may find a way to get a few more people following you if you read up on that post.
We are always commenting on the newest releases in the technology world, such as Bing, the replacement for MSN’s Live search. We try to give opinions that are well rounded and offer both sides of an argument, because as we know, no one ever fully agrees on things. But that’s why so many different options are made, so that everyone can find a search engine, email or even kind of car that they like best. In a sense, disagreement leads to better advancements and the drive to continually improve. We all need a little bit of debate once in a while I suppose. Maybe I’ll go find someone to start a friendly debate with during lunch.

Sites You Need to Target for Online Marketing

We wanted to mention a couple of niche sites that could be used for online marketing, but didn’t fit in our list of 8 Sites You Must Target for Online Marketing Success.
These are smaller sites with a much more narrow focus.
That’s not a bad thing. With our fictitious company Joe’s Pools, we suggested a number of ways to go about promoting the company. But what if you don’t sell pools?
What if you’re a member of a rock band and are looking to gain exposure? Or perhaps you run an online marketing company? Digg or StumbleUpon may not be the most direct way for you to communicate with your audience.
That leads us to sites like Buzznet and Sphinn. Each of them are powerful in their respective industries (music and online marketing).
Buzznet is a great site for promoting up and coming bands – sharing when and where your next gig is and how users can listen to your music.
Sphinn is an excellent social media site with a plethora of articles, blogs and information in the realm of online marketing. In fact, you’ll find USASEOPros on there.
If you’re interested in learning more about our list of 8 sites you must target, then head over to our main SEO blog and read for yourself.
